Hi there, my name is Dave. I'm a Scotsman, a Husband, Father, Photographer, and Image Retoucher.
Having Cheffed for 17 years, I have truly grasped the awareness that presentation is vitally important. First impressions last. That's why I capture and take images that will speak positively to the viewer.
Concerning photography, there are a few genres that spur my passion, Beauty and Portraiture; Food and Products. Though I am partial to a bit of architectural and interior photography also.
Beauty and Portraiture: As I have developed in and through collaborations, I have grown to thoroughly enjoy the genre of portraiture. There is a journey one takes when meeting clients and photographing them. Guiding clients through a shoot and seeing the positive results in images is a real joy.
What else is fun and rewarding, is transforming some images into digital paintings, 3 examples are present in the portraiture page.
Food Photography: With numerous years of cheffing and styling dishes and more than 8 years of practical food photography experience, I’m here to help bring your food to life in images.
If you love food photography that focuses on vibrant, rich colours, lots of textures and storytelling; or perhaps you like dark moody food shots, either way, I’d love the opportunity to work with you!

Product Photography: Now this is a genre and a playground I enjoy, it is here the creative sparks fly.
My Story
So my back story, I left school young and began cheffing in Dublin City, 'Tante Zoes' Cajun Creol Restaurant in Temple Bar. Wow, I'm going back to when they shot Tom Cruise and Kidman in 'Far and Away'. Those were the days of standing at the back Kitchen door on Crow Street and listening to U2 rehearse a few buildings down. I cheffed for 17 years, eventualy making head Chef. Nevertheless, the madness of the hours and the pressure took it's toll. In many ways it was a career which brought many blessings, and today I can look back and not only understand food, but what a client seeks to achieve with their products in front of an audience.
Once I got married I hit a crossroads of life fairly quickly, and we decided I would make a career change. I went back to adult education, got 2 diploma's, which then led on to 1 BSc (Greenwich Univesity), 1 MSc (Leister University), and finally last year I recieved an MA from Chester University. I've been busy, I know what it takes to push oneself to achieve, and that is something you get with me, I don't quit, I push on through.
Well, today I live and work out of Cork Ireland, but I am available to travel for work also. And besides being in love with Beauty, Food and Product photography, I love my family and I also love running.
I have created this website not only to advertise my service, but to push myself to shoot more and become more critical, so that I find ways to improve my skills, develop my taste and take my photography to the next level.
